Pressing the social go live button

Ok, so there is no big cartoon style red button, but when you are switching your business on in the social world it sometimes feels as if there should be one… It’s a pretty daunting situation.

I’ve done it for clients time and time again, I’ve also done it for the businesses that I have worked for and run, but this is the first time for me and my own company. The strange thing is, I can hear myself in my head saying all of the things that I tell my clients. “Don’t worry, there’s a plan in place”, “You are in the best of hands, we know what we are doing and we’ve got the experience to prove it”. That doesn’t make it any less of a big deal though, we’re going public, we’re opening ourselves up to the wider world and I can now truly say that I understand how our clients feel. It’s bloody scary.

That said, it has to be done. After all what is a social agency without a social presence. As I said above, the plan is in place, contingencies agreed, the tone of voice established, goals set and we’ve got content ready for the coming weeks/months. We’re as ready as we’ll ever be.

The coming weeks will be about growing our audience, soaking in the feedback and making any adjustments we feel are required. It’s a process we go through with all of our clients so it shouldn’t be any different for us. In fact I wrote a post not that long ago on this very process…
