The rise of misinformation has made newsrooms more complex than ever. With social media playing a bigger role in how stories spread, journalists are under pressure to verify fast and publish accurately. PA Media Academy came to us with a clear challenge: build an immersive training experience that helps journalists spot red flags, slow down and make better decisions. It needed to feel real and reflect the pressure of modern reporting, as well as be practical enough to roll out globally. The end goal? Help journalists sharpen their instincts and avoid spreading
misinformation- without making it feel like a lecture.
Working with PA Media Academy, we created four hands-on training modules built around real-time decision-making. Each one dropped participants into a newsroom scenario unfolding on a mocked-up social platform: complete with red herrings, false claims, evolving updates and video content. Journalists had to choose whether to publish or wait, facing the consequences of rushing a story or taking the time to verify. Every decision impacted the outcome. This wasn’t just about theory - it was about experience. The format combined realism, interactivity and feedback in a way that stuck, helping participants understand how quickly misinformation can spread and how to stay one step ahead.
A high-impact training experience that’s now part of the core curriculum for journalists in multiple global newsrooms. Journalists said the scenarios felt real and relevant — not abstract or hypothetical. PA Media Academy saw strong uptake and overwhelmingly positive feedback, with users praising the quality of the content and the hands-on format. The modules don’t just teach best practices, they let journalists live them. This reinforces key skills that stick under pressure. In an industry where credibility is everything, the training gives teams the tools to pause, question, and publish with confidence.
