We have an opportunity for an exceptional individual to pioneer the role of Operations Director.  

In this brand-new position, you'll be part of the senior leadership team, overseeing and improving operational processes, policies, and systems to support and drive our ambitious growth plans🚀.

 

Taking a new role in a growing agency is a rare opportunity to effect constructive change and shape a positive culture and working environment. You’ll support the growth and development of 4 direct reports and their individual departments.

What you can expect to do day-to-day:

  • Cultivate a positive, empowering work environment with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.  

  • Identify areas for operational improvement, setting goals and managing the implementation plan 

  • Review and manage monthly invoicing, working closely with all client teams and finance to ensure billing is accurate and on time

  • Manage financial reporting, revenue recognition and monthly forecasting 

  • Work with and support all departments with setting and measuring performance goals to achieve the overall business objectives.

  • Oversee all key internal operations, including workflow and capacity planning, resource allocation and quality assurance. 

  • Collaborate on HR strategy for recruitment, induction, development, and training.  

  • Enhance cross-departmental collaboration and productivity.  

  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure timely, cost-effective service delivery.  

  • Implement performance metrics and reporting systems for continuous improvement across the agency. 

  • Mitigate operational risks, ensuring industry compliance and best practices, including GDPR.  

  • Lead and mentor department heads and management team. 

 

Whilst your job title and job description indicate your principal responsibilities, you may from time to time be asked to carry out other work that is within your capability and capacity. Team members will not be asked to undertake other tasks unreasonably, but a measure of flexibility is expected of all.

 

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate is passionate about developing a positive and productive working environment and culture. To be successful you’ll need to understand the agency landscape, including some experience managing budgets and financial reporting. 

You’ll also need: 

  • Significant experience in a marketing / media agency environment

  • Extensive experience working with cross-disciplinary teams in a growing, innovative business

  • Strong understanding of business operations, including project management, resource allocation, and workflow optimisation. 

  • Proven success on delivery against delivery KPIs (e.g., client satisfaction, utilisation)  

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, role modelling the Hydrogen values to your team and the wider business.  

  • In depth knowledge of the wider digital and social media marketing mix and channels  

  • Strong leadership skills with significant experience of line management, leading, motivating and mentoring teams.  

  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills.  

  • Experience in managing budgets and financial reporting.  

  • Confident ability to think strategically and have a big-picture thinking approach.  

  • Adept at problem solving, communicating new ideas and constructive solutions to challenges.

Mid-Weight Designer

We’re on the lookout for a talented digital creative to join our team as a Mid-Weight Designer.

 

Working across a varied range of clients, you’ll be responsible for visualising impactful content for clients on campaigns and recurring contracts, making use of your both your creative and technical proficiencies.

As a Midweight Designer at Hydrogen, you will be responsible for acting as the lead contact for design work across several clients of varying industries, size, and creative requirements. You’ll also balance this with internal projects alongside others in the design team.

You’ll be expected to actively work with other departments in the team to deliver impactful and creative content for our clients. Always striving for exceptional creative output and employing your skills in ideation to keep the work you produce fresh and exciting. At times you may be called upon to communicate directly with clients to present work and share ideas.  

 

 

What you can expect day-to-day:

  • Acting as the main internal design point-of-contact for several client accounts.

  • Responsibility for visualising the overall strategic direction of the content on your client accounts, contributing to initial and ongoing strategy alongside other teams involved.

  • Responsibility for ensuring content that is delivered to the client is of excellent quality.

  • Being open and aware of opportunities with clients that could lead to growth and additional projects. Communicating these back to the team.

  • Interpretation of client brand documents and translating them in to scroll-stopping visual content.

  • Contributing to ongoing efforts to improve processes and efficiency in the team’s output.

  • Keeping up to date with changes in social media creative and how to best bring these developments into your work. 

 

Who you are:

Previous experience as a digital designer or strong evidence of self-management and design capability. Experience working on creative for social media is highly desirable, but an eagerness to learn and adapt quickly is also acceptable. You’re comfortable being client facing, and able to work from your own initiative on projects.

You’ll also need:  

  • A strong understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite – primarily Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects

  • Strong motion graphics skills

  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise 

  • Strong communication skills across the team and, when required, with clients.

  • Experience of collaborative working

  • Ability to work to quick turnarounds at high-quality

  • Agility to work on both creative ideation and artworking projects

  • Ability to deliver high performing content, adapted to audience and brand tone

  • A can-do attitude and creative flair

  • Ability to comfortably handle and work on different clients at the same time

Desirable:  

 

  • Illustration skills

  • Experience with 3D graphic asset creation

  • Knowledge of video editing beneficial

  • Some experience in content creation, either personal or professional
